The following are standard hvac. prices that we charge in most situations. Most of the prices I have thought out and some are just examples and it is unlikely that we would do some of those jobs as listed.

    The purpose of this list is so that we won't have to re invent the wheel each time and you will have somewhere to start, since most systems require pretty much the same things.

   Being that America is still a free country (with "911" I am not so sure), you are welcome to make your own offer or bid. Sometimes I will spend more time writing a bid than actually doing the work. That is why I have some actual bids that I have written in the past that can be used as a guide. I have actually got requests from readers (not customers) to research the actual costs of equipment that they bought from so one not us, I regretted to inform them that it would take more time to research the equipment costs than it would take to actually install it!

    Updated August 2006: We now have a minimum charge of $150 which is not much when you consider that money isn't worth anything and  most people in this trade are just looking to either sell new equipment or get paid the equivalent if they do service. Many other contractors will have a very low fee to come out, like $35-$80, but by the time they are done, they will have either sold you a new system with financing or they will have sold you a repair that you may or may not need at a price way above what it is worth or they will quickly leave if they can't make a sale.

New marketing strategy:
I contend that if you give money to one of the larger HVAC contractors (that can afford an ad in the phone book or television), their profit simply goes into oblivion. If you buy a new system for $6,000-$8,000 I guarantee that $2,000-$3,000 of that job would accomplish the same thing if you flushed it down the toilet because they are taking it as pure profit on top of the fee to install the equipment.

Other words 1/3 for the equipment, 1/3 for the installation and 1/3 profit on top of that. For us: the cost of the equipment and the cost to install it. Or 1/4 for the equipment 1/4 for installation and 1/2 is profit. (saving you the 1/3 to 1/2 additional profit).  The reason this happens is that you as a customer decided to let someone have your money simply because they have an ad in the phone book or on television and if you call another company that advertises heavily then they can afford to get the job by giving you a little discount and you still get screwed, because they are counting on you not considering giving us the job. Instead give it to us because we know what we are doing instead of how to spend it on advertising.

If you give that same job to us, all the profit would be invested to providing you with better and faster service. I can't help you if my vehicles don't run, can't buy parts or tools and I can't eat. The larger companies will forget you as soon as you sign the contract but, they will be back for more money sometimes twice year in the name of maintenance to the tune of $150-300 or more a year!

   Clean standard Gas furnace $150.00  (contact us for explanation)

    Change condenser fan motor on 1.5 to 5 ton heat pump or air conditioner most units.
(more for double shaft motors) $300.00 (2006)

    Change Gas valve on furnace, boiler or pool heater (standing pilot only) including any pipe fittings and a new thermocouple with pilot tubing. $400.00

    Change Gas valve on furnace, boiler or pool heater intermittent pilot or proven pilot including any pipe fittings and  new pilot tubing.  $350.00- $450.00 (2006)

    Change Gas valve on furnace, boiler or pool heater from Millivolt to standard standing pilot including any pipe fittings, thermocouple and  new pilot tubing.  $350.00

    Change Gas valve on furnace, boiler or pool heater from Millivolt to intermittent pilot or direct spark including Ignition module wiring and any pipe fittings and  new pilot tubing.  $650.00

    Change Gas valve on furnace, boiler or pool heater from standing pilot to intermittent pilot or direct spark including Ignition module wiring and any pipe fittings and  new pilot tubing.  $550.00 (this is for gas equipment where lighting the pilot is a nuisance and you have problems with wind such as an outdoor pool heater)

    Change Gas valve on furnace, boiler or pool heater hot surface ignitor (HSI), direct spark  $350.00

    Change induced draft fan motor on furnaces ,boilers ; Carrier, Bryant, Comfortmaker, Goodman, Janitrol, Lennox (Armstrong, Air ease), Trane (American Standard), Heil, Tempstar, Miller, Intertherm, Rheem/Ruud,  Weil Mclain. $300.00 if we can get a replacement motor. $400 If we need to buy a whole unit to fit that particular furnace.

    Repair defective HSI system (board won't send voltage, rest works) or broken HSI with spark module $170. This repair will eliminate the problems of a failing HSI.

    Change standard compressor 1.5 to 5 tons including any minor re piping and any additional refrigerant. (Does not include GE/Trane/American Standard) ~ $1000.00 other contractors will charge much much more or refuse to do the job. (2007)

    Change compressor on a GE/Trane/American Standard 1.5 to 5 tons.. Does not include any re- piping but does include additional refrigerant and replacing wires and terminals $1500.00 (2007)

    Electrical tune-up single phase heat pump or air conditioner;
Replace contactor, add hard start kit, replace any damaged wiring and terminals $150.00

    Replace contactor single phase heat pump or air conditioner; $50.00 (in addition to service call) 2007

    Replace contactor three phase heat pump or air conditioner; $75.00 (in addition to service call) 2007

   Install liquid line sight glass and dryer (system has liquid line service valve) $250.00 includes service call 2007

    Mechanical tune-up install liquid line sight glass and dryer. System has liquid line service valve), High and low pressure controls, anti-restart timer $500.00 ("Renter Package *).  * Not all renters are destructive, but too many times they will let a system destroy itself when something is wrong. These devices will help to prevent that.

    Mechanical tune-up change indoor coil to a larger coil with thermostatic expansion valve including one of above two plus hard start kit if unit is not already equipped (necessary for installation) plus minor sheet metal modifications $1000.00

    Mechanical tune-up to add thermostatic expansion valves inside and out to a heat pump plus hard start kit if unit is not already equipped (necessary for installation) plus minor clean up of wiring and some small piping modifications $700.00

    Repair leaks on indoor coil "spider tubes", add expansion valve, high and low pressure controls, anti-restart timer, start kit (reciprocating compressor) $500. to do 2 expansion valves (heat pump) $700.
