As of the time we first worked on this system we found that the motor starter for the cooling tower roof blower is burned up and been bypassed.
The starter being bypassed causes the fan to run 24 hours a day whenever the power is applied to the circuit.
To repair the starter it will be necessary to replace the entire starter because the old one uses parts that are no longer available.
I have donated a starter box to  Crain Hwy. that requires that the contactor or coil be changed from 120 volts ac to 208-240 volts ac. The overload heaters will also have to be changed to the correct current rating to property protect the motor (replaced fall 1999 due to burnout caused by wiring to 460-480 instead of 208-230). This caused a "slow burn".
· Cost of replacement coil. $60.00
· Cost of new overload heaters. $30.00
· Cost to replace starter box, overloads and connect all wiring to new box. $100.00
· Total $180.00 due upon testing of fan operation. and verification of motor overloads.

May 2001; Starter box is replaced as well at bearings on cooling tower. The correct motor overload heaters have been ordered to accommodate the current draw of the replacement motor with the new bearings. The highest current draw on one leg is 5.9 amps which corresponds to a Cutler Hammer heater 1031 on the low setting
